Would you ignore text messages from your best friend? Of course not, and yet your body is sending you messages about the state of its health that you probably aren’t receiving – messages about your vascular age, energy, body composition, sleep, blood pressure and oxygenation, and more.

Deciphering these messages and understanding what your body needs is made easy with Vyvo’s Life Sensing Technology™. Maintaining and sustaining good health is all about knowing what works, what doesn’t, and having the discipline to read and feed your body.

How can Vyvo’s LifeWatch help you do that? This post highlights three (of many) ways – heart health, stress, sleep – this wearable device is like a dashboard for your body and helps you understand your body so you can get closer to the health goals that matter most to you.

The Heart of the Matter

The Heart of the Matter

Much of the information your body is sharing is tied to heart health, which makes sense because of how important the heart is. Just like your best friend would try numerous ways to share something important with you, your body has several avenues to tell you about heart health. The Vyvo LifeWatch is able to read and analyze each of these.

A visit to the doctor almost always includes a blood pressure reading because it conveys so much information. High blood pressure affects more than a billion people globally and is a warning sign for numerous health concerns, including the world’s biggest killer, cardiovascular disease. Given the vast prevalence of high blood pressure, empowering people with on-demand, convenient readings from the Vyvo LifeWatch can help improve their quality of life – or even save their life.

Another heart-related signal is atrial fibrillation, or A-fib, which is associated with heart failure, dementia, and stroke. This is the most common type of irregular heartbeat; in fact, it is known for being “irregularly irregular” – a random, highly variable sequence of heartbeats. A-fib also happens randomly, making it hard to monitor and detect. That makes the continual monitoring capabilities of Vyvo’s LifeWatch exceptionally beneficial. Should a LifeWatch user have an A-fib incident, he or she can share their LifeWatch data with a healthcare professional and receive any needed treatment. Heart rate variability, or HRV, is one more heart-focused area where Vyvo’s LifeWatch shines, literally. Using photoplethysmography (PPG) – which uses multiple wavelengths of light to illuminate the skin and photodiodes to measure the reflected light – Vyvo’s LifeWatch can capture HRV. With this bio metric, high variability is desirable. Rob Verkerk of the Alliance for Natural Health, explains it like this:

It might seem odd that variability is a good thing. But the heart is no metronome. The variability is part of the natural tension that exists in so many areas of biology that gives rise both to balance and responsiveness. Our stress response allows us to adapt and respond to ever changing and often risky environments.

Don’t Stress About It

Your body uses HRV to tell you more about your health than just heart-related concerns. Scientists have found HRV to be an accurate proxy for measuring stress, with one research team reporting that “stressors and prolonged worrying were associated with high heart rate and low HRV, not only during waking and but also during the subsequent nocturnal sleep period.”

Stress affects almost everyone at least some of the time, with The American Institute of Stress reports one in three feel extreme stress, 77% have stress that impairs their health, and almost half are so stressed they have trouble sleeping. Understanding stress levels is important because chronic stress is “a major risk factor for morbidity and mortality related to a wide range of health conditions and has a significant negative impact on public health.”

With analysis of the HRV measurement through Vyvo’s proprietary algorithm, the LifeWatch can detect increased stress levels and alert the device user, who can then take steps to better cope with the stress in their life, and seek the involvement and advice of their doctor, if needed.

Don't Stress About It

Sleep Like a Baby

Sleep Like a Baby

Reducing stress can lead to improved sleep, which is an important factor in maintaining health; it’s when the body can restore and repair bodily systems. Numerous factors can contribute to poor sleep, including mental and physiological factors and sleep environment.

Short and poor-quality sleep have been directly linked to a series of chronic health problems, including weight gain and obesity, insulin resistance, hypertension, depression, adverse cardiovascular consequences, weakened immune response, and more. It’s also possible to get too much of a good thing, as research shows excessive sleep can also contribute to health concerns, with one study recommending that the optimal amount for adults is seven to eight hours nightly.

Given its impact on overall health, quality sleep should be a priority for everyone. But judging the quality of our sleep can be difficult. Once again, the Vyvo LifeWatch is the answer, as it monitors sleep quality every night. Vyvo’s PPG function enables the LifeWatch to accurately record periods of sleep and wakefulness, meaning there’s no more guessing. Users may discover underlying issues, such as sleep apnea, that are contributing to poor sleep and that may need the attention of a doctor. If you’ve struggled to decipher the signals your body is sending you, our body dashboard and your new best friend can make all the difference as it measures your bio-parameters in real-time. The Vyvo LifeWatch helps you monitor key vitals related to heart health, stress, and sleep so you can proactively take control of your health – all in a comfortable, stylish watch.
